Well in November 2016 I finally decided to leave my full time job as joint manager at Newfield Hall to become a full time self employed artist and teacher. It hasn’t been an easy decision but I’m so glad I made this choice. I now run weekly watercolour classes at Gargrave Village Hall where I have been teaching for four years. One on Wednesday evenings from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm and one on Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm. Numbers are steadily picking up and I’m excited for what lies ahead.I’m feeling energised and positive all of which is good for new inspirations. I have a few new ideas to explore and will be holding a stand a the Ilkley art Show in August this year. I have also taken on more art holidays with the www.christianguild.co.uk Two holidays at Abbot Hall in Grange Over Sands in Cumbria and two at Willersley Castle at Cromford in Derbyshire. I am also painting again with my oils and absolutely loving it. I have been working on some sea scenes recently. which you can view in my gallery.
In other news I have recently held a solo exhibition at the VSQ Gin bar in Skipton North Yorkshire which was a success. There will be more exhibitions later in the year if you would like to pop in.
I would like to give Mr Jonathan Shaw a huge thank you for displaying my work in the window at the Ocean Gallery in Skipton. If you are in the town pop in a have a look.
Oh! what fun I had creating these acrylic pictures. Jonathan is a very well known artist and has been a great encouragement to me. Which has inspired me to paint many many more pictures. As an artist it is sometimes difficult to know if your work is going to be liked. Art is a very controversial thing some people like it and some people don’t. As for me I am going to keep on painting, just keep on painting. My passion for it just grows and grows.
As from Tuesday 15th December 2014. I am very proud to be having some of my paintings displayed in the Ocean Gallery, 2 Albert Street, Victoria Street, Skipton, North Yorkshire BD23 1JD. www.facebook.com/oceangalleryskipton
Thank you to Jonathan Shaw (proprietor and well known artist) who has been very encouraging. Why not pop along and take a peak.
These monthly classes are suited to both beginners and improvers. In these workshops Alison breaks down some of the mystery of watercolour painting. Of course anything worth doing does take a bit of effort and a bit of practise but it is easier than you think. Using carefully chosen exercises you will create some amazing art that you will be proud of. To begin watercolour painting all you need is some basic equipment to get you started on the journey of discovery and creation, and it can be a very pleasurable pastime. You will gradually build up the skills and gain the confidence necessary to create those magical effects you get from watercolours. Most aspects of this fascinating medium will be covered by means of demonstrations, painting along with Alison in the studio, and plenty of one to one help and guidance. These workshops are suited to both beginners and improvers.
It’s all about having fun, meeting people and relaxing.
